SYDNEY WATSON I PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Volleyball has been a lifelong passion of Sydney’s, beginning the moment she first stepped onto the court. Volleyball has provided her with incredible opportunities—as a collegiate athlete for Nebraska (2008-2010), 2x All-American, member of the United States National Team, professional overseas player, and coach. She believes it is now her responsibility to “Play It Forward” by sharing her knowledge, passion, and love for the game with the next generation of athletes.
As a leader of All Iowa Attack Volleyball, her goal is to combine her experiences at the highest levels of the sport to provide young athletes with the same opportunities, lessons, and passion that have shaped her own journey.
Her philosophy as a coach extends far beyond teaching technical skills. While she is committed to developing strong fundamentals, advanced volleyball IQ, and competitive excellence, she is equally passionate about developing resilient, confident young people who understand leadership, accountability, teamwork, and the mindset required to succeed both on and off the court.
Sydney is incredibly excited to lead All Iowa Attack Volleyball and build a program where athletes not only become exceptional volleyball players, but confident leaders and outstanding individuals.
SADIE SHERMAN I PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Sadie’s volleyball story starts 24 years ago when, at the age of 10, she began tagging along to her older sister’s practices. This love of volleyball propelled her into club volleyball and four seasons of Division I play at Arkansas State University (2010-2013). While she primarily excelled as an outside hitter, she also spent over a year training as a setter in college.
After her collegiate career concluded, she transitioned into coaching, spending two years working with 11- and 12-year-olds in club ball. Since then, she’s dedicated five years to coaching middle school volleyball across Louisiana, Alabama, and Texas. Under her guidance, her teams secured two conference titles and celebrated three league MVPs. Additionally, over half of the middle schoolers she coached went on to make their high school varsity teams as freshmen.
Sadie and her family are new to the Ames community, and are absolutely loving making the Midwest home. The incredibly warm welcome they’ve received has truly inspired her to immerse herself in this community and contribute in the most meaningful way she knows: by leveraging the sport that has given her so much to train and inspire younger generations to become not just great athletes, but great people.
MYA LARSON I COACH
Originally from Wahoo, Nebraska, Mya grew up playing club volleyball before continuing her volleyball career at Montana State as an Outside Hitter (2022). Although her playing career was cut short due to a medical retirement, the game taught her the value of teamwork, selflessness, resilience, and the commitment it takes to achieve success as a team. Those lessons continue to shape who she is today, and she wouldn’t trade her experiences for anything.
Mya is excited to be part of building a club that emphasizes player development and a culture of excellence. Her goal as a coach is to train athletes to develop strong fundamentals, confidence, and a relentless work ethic. She believes in creating an environment where players are pushed to compete and prepare for success at the next level while fostering a genuine love for the game and the people playing around them. Mya is honored and thrilled to be a part of All Iowa Attack Volleyball!
